"Prisoners of Hanging Gardens" commissioned by the Gewandhaus for the Pasakas Wind Quintet, on February 7, 2027.
The Gewandhaus Leipzig has commissioned Aristides Strongylis to compose a new work for the Pasakas Wind Quintet. The work, titled "Gefangene hängender Gärten" (Prisoners of Hanging Gardens) and lasting approximately 18 minutes, will premiere on February 7, 2027, at 6:00 p.m. in the Mendelssohn Hall as part of the Gewandhaus chamber music series.
Members of the Pasakas Wind Quintet—all of whom are Gewandhaus musicians—are: Johanna Sigler (flute), Amanda Tauriņa (oboe), Matthias Kreher (clarinet), Juliane Fleischmann (horn), and Eckehard Kupke (bassoon).
"Resurrection of the Mother" at the Athens Festival of Sacred Music, Easter 2027
The Greek Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Greek National Opera, is organizing the 4th Festival of Sacred Music in Athens for Easter 2027. Aristides Strongylis has been commissioned to compose a work for string quintet and voice (soprano or tenor) that will premiere at the festival. The work is titled "Resurrection of the Mother." Further details will follow in the coming months.
New Work for the Saxon Wind Philharmonic
On October 28, 2027, the Saxon Wind Philharmonic will perform a concert in the Mendelssohn Hall of the Gewandhaus, organized by the Greek Embassy in Berlin. The event marks Greece assuming the Presidency of the European Union for the second half of 2027. This celebratory concert will feature the world premiere of a new work by Aristides Strongylis, composed specifically for the occasion. Further details will follow in the coming months.
May 22, 2026, public premiere of the orchestral piece "2020" by the Koblenz State Orchestra
In 2021, the premiere of the orchestral piece "2020", commissioned by the Koblenz State Orchestra, took place behind closed doors at the Rhein-Mosel-Halle in Koblenz.

On May 22, 2026, the Koblenz State Orchestra performed the same orchestral piece, "2020," in a public concert at the Sayner Hütte as part of the International Koblenz Guitar Days.

June 6, 2026, open dress rehearsal and final concert of the 2026 composition workshop at forum thomanum
The workshop took place on 5 workshop days, spread over two consecutive weekends in spring 2026, at the educational campus forum thomanum.
From 29th to 31st The rehearsal camp with the chamber music orchestra musica viva took place in May. On the first weekend in June 2026, the 9 premieres took place by the participants in the recently renovated Luther Church in Leipzig. The composers and teachers of the workshop were: Aristides Strongylis, Gregor Forbes and Sebastian Ernesto Molina Villarroel. The open dress rehearsal and the final concert took place on June 6th in the Luther Church.
